About Alma Vida

Alma Vida is a newly renovated and well appointed retreat center owned by Rick and Amy Quintero. After purchasing the property in 2017 and completing renovations in 2024, Rick and Amy created the healing space they had always dreamed of.

With intention and deep respect for the land and local culture, they invited a local shaman to perform a blessing ceremony before construction began to help embed the community vision and vibration into the land

The retreat's location is just steps from the beach which adds an extra layer of tranquility, with a saltwater infinity pool and cold plunge, guests can rejuvenate physically and mentally. Plus, the town of San Pancho offers so much to explore, making it a great destination for those looking for balance between healing activities and the beauty of the surroundings.

Cacao Ceremony

A cacao ceremony is a spiritual gathering where participants consume ceremonial-grade cacao to facilitate emotional release and spiritual awakening, rooted in ancient Mayan and Aztec traditions. Participants will set intentions for the ceremony to support spiritual growth, healing or personal exploration. The ceremony will often include guided meditations, breathwork and other practices designed to facilitate emotional release.

Cacao consumed at the ceremony is made of 100% pure cacao (traditional chocolate) prepared as a bitter an unsweetened drink.

Sound Healing Ceremony

Sound healing is a complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) practice that uses sound vibrations to promote relaxation, well-being, and healing. It is based on the belief that certain sounds can resonate with and positively influence the body's physical, emotional, and spiritual systems.

 Temazcal Ceremony

A temazcal is a traditional Mexican sweat lodge ceremony, a form of spiritual healing and wellness, involving a dome-shaped space with hot volcanic stones and herbs to create steam, promoting detoxification and relaxation.

It is a very intimate environment where we are receptive and attentive to every detail. Songs are raised, prayers are presented, and the use of prayer and sweet words is made to honor each essence of what has been called on the way.

There will be short rounds of approximately 7 to 15 minutes with the door mostly closed. The door is made of flexible and permeable materials such as thick wool blankets to prevent the entry of light that may distract us and to keep the heat sheltered inside until it is opened again.

We remain inside during the time the ceremony is performed, and when the doors are opened for another 7 to 15 minutes, we express ourselves to recognize at what point each person's personal work is while more rocks are introduced.

It is always recommended to make the person in charge aware of any special conditions in each of the patients that may require special attention or care, such as maternity, mobility conditions, or any other factor.
